TRACHEARY ELEMENTS AND OCCURRENCE OF VESSELS IN PTERIDOPHYTES I. OPHIOGLOSSACEAE | BIONATURE
The tracheary elements of fifteen species from all three Ophioglossales genera, Botrychium, Ophioglossum, and Helminthostachys, are described in this work. Vessels have been discovered for the first time in Botrychium daucifolium, B. lanuginosum, Ophioglossum costatum, and Ophioglossum reticulatum, as well as vessels previously discovered in Helminthostachys zeylanica. In light of their tracheary characteristics, the progymnospermous aspects of the Ophioglossales are addressed, as well as their probable affinities.
