SICKLE CELL HAEMOGLOBIN AND GLUCOSE-6-PHOSPHATE DEHYDROGENASE DEFICIENCY IN A SCHEDULED CASTE .....

The prevalence of sickle cell haemoglobin and G-6-PID deficiency among the Madigas, a scheduled caste population in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, was investigated. Hbs gene frequency is 0.0175, while GdB gene frequency is 0.0100. These frequencies were also compared to those of nearby caste populations in Andhra Pradesh.
