SECRETION OF PECTIC ENZYMES BY ALTERNARIA SOLANI AND ALTERNARIA TRITICINA | BIONATURE

The effect of monosaccharide (Glucose) and polysaccharide (Starch) on the production of pectic enzymes (endo-PGTE, endo-PMTE, endo-PG, endo-PMG, and PME) in the inoculum of Altarnaria solani on tomato and Altarnaria triticina on wheat in modified Richard's culture medium is investigated in this study. Both pathogens promoted pectic enzyme secretion with monosaccharide, whereas secretion of pectic enzymes was suppressed by both pathogens under comparable conditions with polysaccharide. The activation and suppression of pectic enzymes by Alternaria solani and Alternaria triticina are influenced by the carbohydrate structure as well as the pathogen and host.
