SEARCH FOR ALLELOPATHIC POTENTIAL OF LEAVES OF SHOREA ROBUSTA GAERTN.F | BIONATURE

The undergrowth in sal forests is typically weak. This could be attributed to the leaching, exudation, volatilization, and breakdown of specific allelochemicals from Shorea robusta plant components. The current research is the first attempt to assess the nature of allelopathy. The effect of Shorea robusta leaf leachet on seed germination of Eupatorium odoratum (related weed) and Brassica campestris was investigated (crop). The initial results show a significant reduction in seed germination in both species. Furthermore, a distinct negative relationship between mitotic index and leachate concentration was discovered. The foregoing data point to Shorea robusta leaf leachet phytochemicals having a strong inhibitory impact. In both dry (laentic) and biomass-rich locations, the total growth parameters of its neighbouring plant species in the sal forest environment.
