REPRODUCTIVE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF CEMENT FACTORY WORKERS | BIONATURE

The present study included 360 male workers who worked in the cement industry and were assigned to various units such as the raw material operation unit, rotary kiln unit, coal mills, storage silos, and packing unit (exposed group). In order to assess the possible mutagenic consequences in male workers, a thorough reproductive epidemiology of their wives was obtained using a standard questionnaire. Data was also collected from 330 people who had not been exposed to cement dust (control group). Nonsmokers and smokers were divided into two groups. When compared to the control group, the exposed group had a significantly higher rate of abortions, stillbirths, neonatal deaths, congenital malformations, and premature births.
