RELIC GENES IN ISOETES PANTIL GOSWAMI ET ARYA | BIONATURE

Isoetes pantii Goswami and Arya, an Indian species of quillowrt, has heterospory within one and the same sporangium. Megaspores in the microsporangia have germinated, resulting in gametophytes and sporophytes. A peculiarity previously unknown for any living lycopod is that some of the immature sporophytes have leaves that are similar to spiky leaves of lepidodendrids in addition to normal leaves.
