PHYTOLITHS OF SOME GYMNOSPERMS | BIONATURE

In most species, phytoliths collected from 11 coniferous and three cycad species revealed substantial morphological variations. Cedrus deodara, Podocarpus elongatus, Cycas circinalis, and Cycas revoluta all have diagnostic forms. Phytolith morphology was found to be a valuable tool for distinguishing between gymnosperms and other plants, as well as between cycad and conifer species, in this study.
