PHYTOLITHS IN FERNS II : IN SOME MORE THELYPTEROID FERNS | BIONATURE
Six Thelypteridaceae species had opal phytoliths in their fertile leaf segments. Phytoliths come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including almost cylindrical, triangular, square, or rectangular, as well as amorphous. Some phytoliths resemble plates and are unique to each species.
