Perception of Undergraduate Students towards Waste Disposal: A Case Study of Obafemi Awolowo

The study looked at the attitudes of undergraduate students at Obafemi Awolowo University about waste disposal. It also looked at their perceptions of the waste disposal system's operating system and their level of waste management knowledge. This was done in order to propose steps that could be used to promote a healthy waste disposal attitude in order to create a disease-free climate. The study was conducted using a survey research design. The sample size was two hundred and seventy-seven (277) undergraduates.Three research questions were posed, and three of them were answered. The information gathered was analysed using frequency counts and percentages. Among the findings were that 238 (86%) of the respondents had a negative attitude toward waste disposal, while 39 (14%) had a positive attitude toward waste disposal. In addition, 259 (94%) of respondents gave the existing waste management system around the university community a positive rating, while 18 (6%) gave it a negative rating. Finally, the results showed that 82 (30%), 134 (48%), and 61 (22%), respectively, of the respondents were exceptionally, averagely, and reasonably educated regarding waste management. According to the findings, students have a negative attitude about waste disposal.
