PATHOGENIC SEED-BORNE FUNGI ZEA MAYS L. FROM CROSS RIVER STATE OF NIGERIA | BIONATURE

Twelve samples of Zea mays, including three popular varieties: Pioneer 306, NS 1, and Western yellow, were screened for șeed-orne pathogenic fungus using the blotter method. The outcome reveals the multifario composition of seed-borne fungus. There were a lot of Fusarium moniliforme and Cephalosporium maydis infections in the samples. Cephalosporium maydis ccurred in ten of the twelve samples, while F. moniliforme was found in all of them. The importance of these and other detected infections was stressed due to the expanding importance of maize in our economy.
