NATURAL SELECTION INTENSITY IN AN ENDOGAMOUS HUMAN POPULATION | BIONATURE

The selection intensity indices were calculated using demographic data on fertility and mortality among Andhra Pradesh's Rajaka, an endogamous caste population. The total, fertility, and mortality indices are all lower than in other Andhra groups previously investigated. In today's population, selection is primarily represented through differences in mortality rather than fertility. The results are consistent with these people's poor socioeconomic status.
