MITOTIC AND MEIOTIC CHROMOSOMES OF THREE SPECIES OF FAMILY NYMPHALIDAE | BIONATURE

The current study included cytological examinations of testicular tissues from three Junonia species, namely J. almana, J. orithya, and J. lemonias, all of which are members of the Nymphalidae family. The number of haploid chromosomes discovered was 31. In mitotic metaphase and metaphase-ll, the chromosomes are rod or dot-shaped. Even during prometaphase phases, when the chromosomes are relatively elongated, no main constrictions have been seen.
