Continuing our research on carcinogens and tumour promoters (Upadhyay, 1996), which are well-known health hazards that worsen the total carcinogenic burden of the environment (Upadhay, 1980). The effect of several chemicals and synthetic compounds, including colours, on the liver of Hyteropneustes fossilis, which frequently developed basophila along with other changes associated with the commencement of the carcinogenesis process in the organ, was studied (Upadhyay, 1993, 1995).
