MICROPYLAR APPARATUS OF AN EGG OF AEDES (STEGOMYIA) AGEYPTI (L.) | BIONATURE
An anterior end of an Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti egg displayed unique micropylar machinery in a scanning electron microphotograph. It was plainly identified by a centrally placed, well-guarded entrance for sperm entry during the cross-fertilization process. It is hoped that the egg morphology would prove to be an additional tool for identifying sibling species.
