MICROPROPAGATION OF MEDICINAL PLANTS II. WEDELIA CHINENSIS (OSBECK) MERR. | BIONATURE

By optimising the amounts and combinations of several phytohormones in MS media, methods for in vitro micropropagation of Wedelia chinensis by indirect organogenesis via callus were studied. In MS media containing BAP and NAA, callus was induced from leaf explants. Subculturing in MS medium fortified with BAP and L-glutamine resulted in callus growth and the development of related nodular structures. Caulogenesis was observed two weeks after the nodular light green friable calli were subcultured on MS basal media. Seven days after reinoculating the shoots in MS basal media, rhizogenesis was detected.

In terms of biochemical and cytological parameters, there were no discernible variations between the donor and in vitro created plants.
