MARKER DOT IS INDICATOR OF CHROMOSOMAL MUTAGENESIS | BIONATURE

Marker dots (MD) have been discovered as extrachromatin bodies ranging in size from 1 to 2.5u in cells with one or more chromosomal aberrations. These dots have been found to detach from chromosomes at any point and to be C-positive in part. G-banded metaphases have revealed their presence in close proximity to chromosomes. The existence of these marker dots in lymphocytes of individuals with various tumours, recurrent abortions, and several disorders may imply that these marker dots are symptomatic of chromosomal mutagenesis.
