LONG-TERM CALLUS CULTURES AND DIFFERENTIATION OF PIGMENTED ROOTS IN JACKFRUIT, ARTOCARPUS HETEROPHYL
Isolated jackfruit embryos were cultured in activated charcoal media to produce in vitro plantlets. Meristernoids were extracted from the plantlets' leaf explants. In media containing 2,4-D (4 mg/1), NAA (1 mg/1) and coconut milk, long-term callus cultures could be produced from stem segments (15 percent ). The bottom section of the roots was orange-red and the stem callus revealed rhizogenesis.
