Level of Rural Dwellers’ Participation in Community-Based Development Project in Gombe State...
Rural residents have realised the importance of contributing to the growth of their own city, as many of these communities are underserved by the government in terms of physical and socioeconomic development. As a result, the focus of this research was on the level of rural dwellers' involvement in community-based agriculture and rural development projects in Nigeria's Gombe state. 71 respondents from three rural village areas were sampled using a multistage sampling method (RVAs). According to the findings, 36.6 percent of respondents were between the ages of 41 and 50, 31.0 percent were between the ages of 31 and 40, and 11.3 percent were under the age of 31 (mean=43.7). Females made up 50.7 percent of all respondents, 94.4 percent were married, and 78.9% were qualified. The majority of respondents (69.0%) were farmers, with 52.1 percent earning less than N14,711.27 and 64.8 percent having a household size of more than seven (mean = 9.9). The results also show that 70.4 percent of those who participated in the project actively did so. There was no important connection between participation and sex (2=0.014, p 0.05). However, there was a substantial association between participation and age (p= 0.05), marital status (p= 0.05), household size (r= 0.261, p 0.01), education (p= 0.05), primary occupation (p= 0.05), and secondary occupation (p= 27.873).There was a strong association between respondents' income (r=0.276, p =0.020), respondents' use of knowledge sources (r=0.224, p = 0.060), and involvement in community-based agriculture and rural development projects (r=0.224, p = 0.060). Finally, rural residents in Gombe state took an active role in community-based agriculture and rural development projects. Rural residents' involvement in community-based projects was also boosted by education and the information sources available to them. When implementing a construction project to rural residents, it is also recommended that appropriate sources of knowledge be used.
