KERATINOPHILIC MYCOFLORA FROM NATIONAL PARK, KANHA, M.P. (INDIA) | BIONATURE

Phycomycetes are represented by 10 species of keratinophilic fungi. Soil samples treated with keratin baits such as hair, skin particles, claws, feathers, and nails yielded Ascomycetes and Deuteromycetes. Syncephalastrum sp. could only colonise hair, while Microsporum canis appeared on all baits. Trichophyton mentographyte was shown to be prominent on nails, skin particles, and hair, but not on claws. Hair and skin particles were colonised the most by Fusarium sp. The hair had the highest number of moulds colonising it.
