Investigating the Nexus between Commodity Pricing and the Financial Performance of Manufacturing...

The link between commodity pricing and financial performance is undeniable. However, there has been relatively little research on the impact of commodity pricing on the financial performance of Kenyan manufacturing firms. This research aims to close that gap by examining the impact of commodity pricing on financial performance. Data was collected and analysed over a ten-year period, with the sales growth ratio and tax serving as proxy metrics for commodity pricing. The data was analysed using both long term and dynamic models. When examined using both EBITS and ROA, the sales growth ratio and tax paid were found to have a substantial impact on the financial performance of Kenyan manufacturing enterprises in both the long run and dynamic models. As a result, the null hypothesis that commodity pricing has no meaningful relationship with manufacturing enterprises' financial performance in Kenya was rejected in favour of the alternative hypothesis.
