INBREEDING AMONG NADARS OF TAMILNADU (INDIA) | BIONATURE



A total of 46 pedigrees were collected from a Nadar village in Madurai district, Tamilnadu, with 341 consanguineous marriages and 1618 children, and their coefficient of inbreeding was calculated. We discovered seventeen mating types with a high rate of patri-lateral cross-cousin marriages. The occurrence of dead children changed dramatically across the two sets. The selection intensity has also been calculated with its two components, and it looks to be modest.
