GENETIC DIVERSITY OF COMPLEMENT SYSTEM : A STUDY OF C3 AND BF VARIATIONS IN HUMAN POPULATIONS ......

The distribution of C3 and Bf phenotypes in a North Indian sample was investigated, and gene frequencies were compared to those reported in other Indian populations. In India, there appear to be significant inter- and intra-regional variability in C3 frequencies. The role of natural selection in causing distinct variances in C3 and Bf frequencies among various racial groups around the world is examined.
