In the bone marrow cells of Swiss albino mice Mus musculus, the genotoxic effects of cyproheptadine, the major ingredient of an appetite stimulant tonic, Magnadyn, were examined. The medicine was given orally in three distinct doses of cyproheptadine: 0.1 mg/kg, 0.5 mg/kg, and 2.5 mg/kg. The therapeutic dose of 0.5 mg/kg was given for 45 days straight to evaluate how it affected body weight. Giemsa staining was used to check for mitotic metaphase stages. The medicine is neither clastogenic nor mitoclastic, as evidenced by the non-significant incidence of structural defects like as gaps, fractures, and translocations. There was no significant increase in body weight in the weight gain experiment.
