ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDIES ON AN ANTIMALARIAL, ENDANGERED PLANT VITEX PEDUNCULARIS WALL | BIONATURE

The paper is about ethnobotanical research on Vitex peduncularis Wall, a Jharkhand antimalarial plant that is locally known as 'Charaigorwa' because of the appearance of the immature trifoliate leaf with a flattened peduncle that resembles a bird's leg ('charai' means bird, and 'gorwa' means leg). Traditional herbal medicine practitioners in Jharkhand claim that decoctions of the leaf and bark offer preventive and therapeutic effects against a variety of ailments, including malaria.
