ENZYMES ACTIVITY AND PROLINE CONTENT IN PASPALUM SCROBICULATUM LINN. GROWN IN THE PRESENCE OF SALT..
The effects of salt (NaCl) and heavy metals (Pb and Co) on the activity of specific enzymes and proline concentration in immature Paspalum scrohiculatum leaves were investigated. The activity of aminotransferases (GPT and GOT), glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH), and malate dehydrogenase are all favoured by salt and heavy metals. The amount of proline in the blood was found to be considerably greater than the control levels.
