ENERGY UTILIZATION OF BARLY (HORDEUM VULGARE L.) GENOTYPES UNDER VARIOUS PLANTING PATTERNS .........

The research looked at energy usage efficiency (Eu) in ten barley genotypes planted at roW distances of 15 cms, 20 cms, 25 cms, and 30 cms, respectively. The genotype DL-157 had the highest overall Eu (1.56 percent), followed by RD-57 (1.45 percent ). RD-137 had a lower (1.10 percent) Eu content but produced a greater yield, which can be related to its higher energy use during ear growth. Due to its efficient canopy architecture, 20 cm row spacing had much greater Eu and yielded the most. Higher dry matter (Dm) production and grain yields were achieved when treatment combinations V3 S2, V3 S1, and V1 S2 used the maximum amount of sun energy.
