The Cercospora elicitor induced activity of chitinases and -1,3 glucanase was investigated in seven Vigna radiata cultivars with varying levels of resistance. All seedling components and calli were found to be induced with hydrolases such as chitinases and -1,3-glucanases. These enzymes' activity were increased in resistant cultivars. The highest levels of glucanase and chitinase activity were found in the cotyledons. The resistance status of mungbean cultivars was discovered to be linked to the increased activity of these enzymes.
