EFFECTS OF MONOCHROMATIC ILLUMINATION ON GROWTH AND PIGMENT PRODUCTION OF EUTETRAMORUS PLANCTONI....

The influence of monochromatic lights - red and blue - on the growth, morphological variation, and pigment formation of Eutetramorus planctonicus (Korch.) Bourr. cultures was investigated in comparison to white and dark. Under white light, the fastest growth was recorded. The growth was favoured by red light, while the growth was slowed by blue light. Cell division was impacted by red light, while cell dimensions were influenced by blue light. Under white light, both processes were well balanced, but in utter darkness, they were completely suppressed. In the synthesis of Chl. b pigment, blue light showed an advantage over red light.
