Effect of Emotional Instability on the Academic Performance of Students of Colleges of Agriculture a
Emotional stability has been found to be a significant determinant of academic success in various studies. As a result, the aim of this study was to determine the impact of emotional instability on students' academic performance in Plateau state's agriculture and related disciplines colleges. The research employed a multistage sampling method. Three of the state's five colleges of agriculture and related sciences, as well as four divisions from those colleges, were chosen using simple random sampling. A total of one hundred and twenty (120) respondents were selected for interview by systematic random sampling from each of the departments. A questionnaire was used to collect primary data. According to the findings, 80.8 percent of respondents were between the ages of 18 and 26, 50.0 percent were male and 50.0 percent were female, 82.5 percent were single, and 71.6 percent had a household size of two to seven people. The majority of respondents (67.5%) outperformed the average. There was a substantial association between respondents' age (2 = 24.417, p = 0.000), marital status (2 = 135.050, p = 0.000), and academic performance (2 = 135.050, p = 0.000). However, with an r-value of 0.004, (p = 0.966), there was no important association between respondents' emotional status and academic success. As a result, it can be concluded that emotional distress has little impact on academic performance at the tertiary level, such as in agricultural colleges and related disciplines.
