Effect of Aridity Gradient on Physico-chemical and Microbial Characteristics of Pine Forest Soils |

The goal of this research was to see how the bioclimatic stage affected certain soil parameters in western Algerian woodlands.

For this project, three forest regions dominated by Aleppo Pine and located in the bioclimatic phases humid, semi-arid, and arid were chosen. Physical, chemical, and microbiological investigations were carried out at each site to see if they had an impact on the plant and biological processes of the soil.

The findings revealed that there is a lot of variation between the stations and that the water and nitrogen content is affected by the aridity gradient. The amount of carbon, on the other hand, is higher in the humid and arid zones and lower between the two stations. The aridity gradient has little effect on microbial biomass, according to the researchers. In the humid zone, the enzymatic activities are more prominent, whereas in the semi-arid and dry zones, they are nearly identical.
