The usage of education in the United States has changed over time to meet the requirements of society. In the twentieth century, education served a variety of purposes, including informing adolescents about diverse religious ideologies and educating them to live in a democracy. In the twentieth century, education was also crucial in assimilating immigrants into mainstream society and preparing workers for industrialization. In the twentieth century, education was also critical because it served as a vehicle for shaping and preparing the young for their futures in a quickly changing world. In this case, education also served as a tool for developing adults capable of competing in a global economy as well as emotionally healthy adults capable of meaningful relationships.
