ECOLOGICAL STUDY ON A FRESH WATER POND IN GWALIOR, M.P. | BIONATURE

From July 1992 to June 1993, the planktonic dispersion of a Govind puri, sewage-fed and perennial pond in Gwalior was examined. A total of 59 taxa were detected, with 23 taxa of Chlorophyceae, 25 taxa of Euglenophyceae, 07 taxa of Cyanophyceae, and 04 taxa of Bacillariophyceae belonging to phytoplankton and 31 species of Zooplanktonic forms (10 species of Protozoa, 16 species of Rotifera ; 02 species each Ostracoda and Cladocera and 01, species of Copepoda). The seasonal distribution of these species was also determined, as well as their association with several physico-chemical features. Peaks in phytoplankton and zooplankton do not coincide with euglenoids and rotifers dominance.
