e-Kharid Portal: An Initiative of Haryana Government for Agricultural Digitalization...

Haryana's economy is based mostly on agriculture. Agriculture and related industries are critical to the state's economic development. After Punjab, Haryana is the second greatest provider to the central pool of food grains. Approximately two-thirds of Haryana's population is employed in agriculture and related industries, either directly or indirectly. Haryana's government is continually coming up with new initiatives and programmes to help farmers improve their situation. e-Kharid is another government effort for farmers, allowing them to sell their commodities at reasonable prices (MSP). The purpose of this study is to look at the current state of the e-Kharid portal and to discuss the Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB) portal's relationship with the e-Kharid site. The study relies on secondary data gathered from numerous government reports, newspapers, and official government websites, among other sources. The data are analysed using descriptive statistics such as tables and graphs. According to the findings of the survey, wheat and mustard are the most important crops grown in Haryana during the Rabi season. In the Rabi season for the year 2020-21, the study also finds that only Wheat is sold on MSP by farmers, while other crops are sold to private agencies because the price paid by private agencies is higher than MSP. As a policy implication, it is advised that policymakers fix a fair MSP for all crops and expand the number of crops covered by MSP in order to assist farmers double their income.
