Deconstruction of the Novel ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ in the light of Edward Said’s Orientali..

Orientalism by Edward Said examines how the West constructs and crystalizes the concept of the East to suit their needs. He explains how this mentality was captured in Western literary works, and how this view led to a bias in how the West thought about and handled the East. In his metafictional novel "The Reluctant Fundamentalist," Mohsin Hamid has ingeniously intertwined the characteristics of orientalism. The Reluctant Fundamentalist in the Light of Said's Orientalism is the subject of this paper, which begins with a brief overview of Orientalism and then moves on to The Reluctant Fundamentalist. To elucidate the author's ultimate intentions, four important Orientalist themes (Political Discourse and Power, Cultural Imperialism, Identity Crisis, and Western Hegemony) linked to the aspects of Orientalism are examined.
