Cost Benefit Analysis of Mushroom Farming in Nepal | Asian Journal of Economics, Finance and Mana...
This research was carried out in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, and focused on the current state of mushroom growing. This research is focused on mushroom growing in the Chandragiri municipalities of Balambu, Matathirtha, and Thankot. The cost-benefit analysis was an important part of this study so that the current state of mushroom cultivation could be investigated. This study used a random sampling approach to choose 33 farmers as a sample. Total output and productivity are on the decline, according to data collected from 2016 to 2020. In a 12 x 30 x 8 metre tunnel, the breakeven threshold (cutoff point) is 692 kg of production, which means that at least 692 kilogramme of mushroom must be generated to continue in production. The area under cultivation for mushrooms shrank, and production per ball dropped from 4 kg to 2.7 kg. According to the research, the value of mushroom growing is declining in the Kathmandu valley. Because of the outflow of domestic labour, Indian farmers may produce at a lower cost than Nepalese farmers.
