Colchicine Myopathy in a Patient with Chronic Renal Failure: A Case Report | Asian Journal of Medica

Colchicine myopathy is a medication side effect that can occur at any dose, but is more common in people with renal insufficiency. A painless proximal decrease of strength in the lower extremities is generally seen. Because the metabolism of colchicine diminishes in chronic renal patients, commencing therapy with a low dose and gradually increasing it can help to lessen the drug's negative effects. Myopathy usually improves within days or weeks after stopping the medication.
