CHROMOSOMAL INSTABILITY IN PERIPHERAL LYMPHOCYTES OF HEPATITIS B AND HEPATOMA PATIENTS | BIONATURE
SCE frequencies were substantially greater in chronic hepatitis B patients who tested positive for HBsAg than in normal controls (p0.01). Both HBsAg positive and negative hepatoma patients had significantly greater SCE frequencies than controls (p0.01). There were no significant changes in SCE between chronic hepatitis B patients and hepatoma patients who tested positive for HBsAg and those who tested negative for HBsAg (p>0.05). BudR and FudR observations on fragile sites indicated differences of 6% and 9% in the control group, respectively, and 30% and 33% in hepatoma patients. As a result, our research implies that high frequencies of SCE and fragile sites in the peripheral lymphocytes of individuals with chronic hepatitis B and hepatoma may indicate chromosomal instability.
