BOAR SPERM MEMBRANE INTEGRITY TEST FOLLOWING PRESERVATION IN LIQUID STATE | BIONATURE
For this investigation, three Hampshire and cross-bred boars (Hampshire X Khasi local) were selected. Dilution (1:3) in BTS extender with ascorbic acid as an antioxidant was made immediately after semen collection, held at 24°C, and assessed for Hypo-Osmotic sperm swelling (HOSST) after 0, 24, 48, and 72 hours. At 0, 24, 48, and 72 hours, the readings for Hampshire were 55.330.16, 50.11 0.16, 44.11 0.16, and 41.22 0.16 percent, whereas the values for Cross. bred were 52.45+0.19, 46.95+0.19, 40.01 + 0.19, and 39.330.19 percent. There was a significant difference (p0.05) between breeds and up to 48 hours. However, there was little distinction between breeds.
