Blasphemy: Freedom of Expression or Mental Torture? | Asian Journal of Sociological Research

According to several national and international documents, torture, whether physical or mental, is considered a crime. Blasphemy is also a criminal under many countries' local laws. The right to freedom of expression is not an inalienable human right. Religious, political, or cultural blasphemy can result from exercising freedom of expression without keeping it within permissible bounds. Blasphemous sentiments may be considered freedom of expression by some, yet they can cause considerable mental agony to adherents of a certain culture, political ideology, or religion.
