BISEXUAL SPORANGIA IN ISOETES PANTII | BIONATURE

The germination of megaspores inside the heterosporous sporangia of Isoetes panti has been seen repeatedly in this study. Projected archegonia is produced by both ancestral and typical megaspores. Periclinal and longitudinal walls help the embryo develop. Heterosporous sporangia have been dubbed "the pinnacle of plant morphology," with the creation of previously unknown traits attributable to newly discovered highly conserved DNA sequences (A-Trich) found in Isoetes pantii but not in other species.
