Assessment of Physical and Chemical Properties of Soils at Gournadi Upazila under Barisal ......

The soil samples were taken in Bangladesh's Gournadi Upazila, in the Barishal district. The soils were tested for texture, pH, EC, N, P, K, S, and Na in order to evaluate the qualitative analysis of some key plant nutrients in agricultural soil and to estimate crop adaptability. In Gournadi Upazila, the texture classifications were silt loam. The sand fractions ranged from 13.25 percent to 26.25 percent. Silt fractions ranged from 44.7% to 77.5 percent, whereas clay fractions ranged from 10.25 to 29.5%. Gournadi's soil pH ranged from 7.16 to 8.72. This zone's soil is practically alkaline. The degree of saltiness can be determined by measuring electrical conductivity. The soils had EC values ranging from 0.09 to 0.24 dS/m, indicating that they were not saline. Gournadi's total nitrogen concentration ranged from 0.028 to 0.74 percent. At this Upazilla, the average total N content was 0.11 percent. The total amount of nitrogen in maximal sites was at its highest. This could be owing to the addition of a lot of organic matter, as well as the fact that there is still a lot of crop residue in the field. In Gournadi, the amount of accessible P ranged from 9.25 to 24.11 ppm. In this room, the average amount of accessible P was 16.72ppm. Gournadi's Exchangeable K ranged from 0.13-0.36 me/100 g soils. Gournadi's available S content ranged from 14.16 to 24.18 ppm. The average available S content was 18.65 ppm. The content of Na+ varied between 0.19 and 1.07 percent. The sodium concentration was found to be 0.45 percent on average. It may be concluded that the majority of the studied regions' soil nutrient status is optimal, which is favourable for crop development..
