Age Determination of Nemipterus japonicus in Tha-baw-seik, Myanmar Using of Sagitta Otolith and Scal

From January to December 2018, 400 Nemipterus japonicus were randomly collected in the Tha-baw-seik landing area. After that, the samples' sagitta otoliths and scales were removed, and their yearly rings were analysed. Three hundred and sixty-six integers were shown to be reliable in determining age. The maximum age was discovered to be 5+ years old for pooled fish with SL = 23.14 cm, while the youngest was 1+ year old for a female specimen with SL = 12.72 mm in the current study. Furthermore, it is possible to deduce that N. japonicus has a medium lifespan, with the first and second age groups having the largest growth length rate. The current work will undoubtedly pave the way for future stock assessment studies in Myanmar, as it was the first to determine the age of N. japonicus.
