ABO BLOOD GROUPS AND REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE | BIONATURE

The current study included 200 pregnant women ranging in gestational age from 4 to 20 weeks. Out of these, 150 had their pregnancies terminated for family planning or health reasons, and 50 had spontaneous abortions. These women were ABO blood group typed, and a complete previous obstetric history was also collected in order to study the impact of these factors on their reproductive performance. Blood type B predominates in both groups, accounting for 37.33 percent in induced abortion and 38.00 percent in spontaneous abortion.

When compared to the induced category, women with a spontaneous obstetric history have a higher risk of foetal loss (63.36 percent) (39.48 percent). The majority of women who spontaneously abort are of the O blood group (90.48 percent), whereas women of the B blood group appear to have an advantage (67.57 percent).
