3NTPT : A NEWLY DISCOVERED ANTIFERTILITY AGENT. VI. CYTOCHEMICAL ALTERATIONS IN NUCLEIC ACIDS.....

Females of the red cottonbud, Dysdercus koenigii, received a four-hour contact treatment with 15 mg of 1-(3-nitrophenyl)-4,4,6-trimethyl-1H, 4-Hpyrimidine-2-thiol (3NTPT), which resulted in a steady reduction of DNA and RNA in the ovarioles. The trophocytes, trophic core, nutritive cords, follicular epithelium, and oocytes all showed a decrease in pyrinophilia. The nucleic acid content of the oocytes was completely wiped out as a result of these degenerative alterations and subsequent oocyte resorption.
