Abstract

Meiotic studies were performed on seven populations of liliopsid genus minor from Haryana and adjacent Shiwalik Hills. All the presently found out populations are tetraploid (2n=28) with X-7. The cellular division course altogether the populations is found to be abnormal with few quadrivalents, besides traditional bivalents, viscousness in chromosomes, presence of secondary association of Some bivalents, non-synchronous separation of some bivalents at Metaphase-l, cytomixis, presence of bridges and laggards throughout anaphases and telophases, etc. in spite of traditional microsporogenesis, high incidence of spore sterility is found in several populations.
