VARIABILITY IN SEED PROTEINS OF TRITICALE

Abstracts

Seeds often hexaploid triticale strains namely UC-15, UC-48, UC-56, UC-40, UC-43, UC-63, UC-68, T-40, 6T-392 and DTS-630 were crushed and macerated with cold extraction buffer. The resulting solution was filtered over muslin cloth and centrifuged. The supernatant was subjected to electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel column as described by Davis (1964), 0.1% amido black was used for staining the seed proteins and 7% acetic acid was used for destaining. The triticale strains exhibited different protein bands varying in number from four to ten. The Rf values ranged from 0.10 to 0.90.
