THE EFFECT OF PIPERAZINE ON THE HISTOCHEMISTRY OF PARADISTOMUM ORIENTAILS (TREMATODA) OF CALOTES VER

Abstracts

C. versicolor, naturally infected with p. orientalis were orally administered piperazine (PIP) at a single dose of 400 mg kg-1 body weight. PAS–positive material, glycogen, alkaline phosphatase, acid Phosphatase, and proteins of vitellaria of p. orientalis were strongly reduced while the proteins and phenolases to a moderate amount followed by 24 to 72 hours of post drug treatment. These results suggest that PIP might have directly or indirectly attacked these histochemical substances of p. orientalis rendering it susceptible to the effects of the drug.
